Manos Unidas Lubbock Community Coalition (MULCC)

Rooted in Community. Driven by Change.

Manos Unidas (MULCC) is a grassroots organization powered by leaders who were raised in and continue to serve the six Lubbock zip codes most impacted by crime and poverty. We are a team of passionate advocates with lived experience, dedicated to decreasing alcohol and marijuana use among our youth through education, advocacy, and action.

Our Mission & Strategy

We address the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) that contribute to substance use while educating our community on the real-world legal and physical consequences of these behaviors.

Our Primary Objectives:

  • Establish & Strengthen Collaboration: Building a robust, multi-sector network of community stakeholders to protect our youth.

  • Reduce Substance Use: Lowering use rates by addressing local risk factors—such as trauma and peer pressure—while promoting protective factors that foster resilience.

A Proven Track Record of Impact

We don't just talk about change; we implement it. By utilizing evidence-based practices and deep-rooted community partnerships, we strengthen Lubbock's ability to address youth substance use through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and proactive outreach.

2025: A Year of Massive Engagement

In 2025, MULCC participated in over 60 community activities, proving that we are "on the ground" where it matters most.

  • Direct Outreach: Distributed vital prevention information at over 25 school and community meetings.

  • Reducing Stigma: Led over 20 educational sessions aimed at breaking the stigma associated with substance use disorders.

  • Community Presence: From Health Fairs and 5K Races to cultural staples like Pancho Clos, Trunk-n-Treats, and Back-to-School events, we are a constant presence in the lives of Lubbock families.

Creating Drug-Free Alternatives

Prevention is about more than saying "no"—it’s about providing a better "yes." MULCC provides safe, high-energy, drug-free social events that promote positive social norms for our youth.

Our signature events include:

  • Youth Bingo Nights & Ice Cream Socials

  • "Mocktails and Painting" Creative Sessions

  • Pumpkin Carving Parties & Holiday Programs

Join the Movement

These coordinated strategies support national priorities to promote healthy youth development and prevent substance misuse before it begins. Together, we are building a safer, healthier, and stronger Lubbock.

Our Growing Impact: The Power of the Coalition

At Manos Unidas, we believe that real change is powered by people. Our coalition is made up of dedicated community members, parents, and leaders who are committed to creating a safer, drug-free Lubbock.

The numbers tell the story of our momentum:

  • 2023: Launched with 12 founding members.

  • 2024–2025: Maintained a strong core of 18 dedicated leaders.

  • 2026 (Current): Grown to 31 active coalition members!

We are not done yet. While we are proud of our growth, our vision is to have every sector of Lubbock represented at our table. Whether you are a parent, a local business owner, a teacher, or a concerned neighbor, there is a place for you here.

Hear from our Youth Coalition Members

Hello, my name is Marisela, and I am a member of Manos Unidas Youth Coalition. I found out about this organization from school and I couldn’t be happier that I did. Our cause is something that is incredibly worth advocating for in our community. Through our meetings, we have effectively raised awareness about a large issue we face in society today with teenagers and substance use, and we have become a resource for teens in our area. Our meetings are not only fun, but informative, and we would be thrilled for anyone who is interested in joining.

Hello my name is Nylene, but I usually go by Nini. Throughout my time as being a part of the Manos Unidas Youth Coalition, it has been really fun. Since I’ve been with them, I have been able to meet wonderful people, use my spare time productively, and more! Not only do we do fun things like meetings, but we are also involved with the community which is something I love. I love talking to new people and trying to see if they would be interested in joining our Youth Coalition as well.
